Combine a guy who fell in love with food during a year of graduate school in France, and the girl from Denmark he fell in love with who has also traveled the world, and what do you get?
Solo Bistro in Bath – an outstanding restaurant with a European flair and very creative food.
Who knew that Bath is a vacation destination?
After years of driving by this thriving community, we stopped for a night at the Inn in Bath where we met others on weekend get-a-ways from Chelsea, Maine to Chicago, Illinois! And because of a storm, this turned into a 3-day visit!
It was tough – enjoying a spectacular dinner at the Samoset’s La Bella Vita on Saturday night, and finding room to eat our way around Rockland the next afternoon at Pies on Parade.
But we did it!
Guys. Print this out for next year’s Valentine’s Day. Here’s how to do Valentine’s Day right.
You tell your wife that you’re cooking her dinner, and then surprise her with dinner at one of her favorite Italian restaurants, Gagliano’s in Augusta.
Earlier in the day, you visit the restaurant with a bag of items to be placed on your table before you arrive for dinner: a photo of your wife dining in Italy with the hills of Tuscany in the background; her favorite vase filled with some of her favorite fresh flowers; a beautifully wrapped gift of her favorite chocolates from Monica’s Chocolates in Lubec (and purchased in Hallowell at Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe); and of course, a very nice Valentine card.
What comes to mind when you think about the Samoset Resort in Rockport? Luxurious rooms? Stunning ocean views? An awesome Italian restaurant? World-class golf course? A wonderful spa? Tons of fun with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, workout rooms and classes?
Well, this winter you should be thinking family school-vacation adventures, romantic Valentine’s Day experiences, and winter weekend get-a-ways packed with great food and fun!
We wondered if the hour-long drive on winding roads on the foggiest night of the year would be worth it. And yes, it sure was! Our dinner at 76 Pleasant Street will unquestionably be one of our best of the year.
